“A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts. So, he loses touch with reality and lives in a world of illusions” – Alan Watts
You want to raise your “vibration” as well as your internal state. To do that we must change the active conscious thoughts and the inactive subconscious thoughts that impact them. Think of it in terms of inputs and outputs. We consume social media, as well as perpetuate thoughts we dwell on and the environment we’re in,. It all stays the same, nothing changes internally and consequently nothing changes externally. We as humans are inherently “change averse”.
We’re always trying to predict the next negative outcome to make us feel safe. This consumes large amount of mental energy and we certainly want to find better uses for that energy. A clear example of this is how most people feel at work on a Monday vs. a Friday. Totally different internal state, we’ve grown up in a system that perpetuates this cycle. The truth is that we can have that “Friday feeling” every day and i’m going to give you the clear steps to doing that in this guide.
Your thoughts are things, they’re not you.
It’s built in to our language; “I’m angry” or “You made me angry”, consequently we have now identified as the negative emotion itself, instead of seeing it as something external from us. This may be the single most powerful tool anyone ever teaches you. Pretend your thoughts are something outside of you, like a cloud in the sky passing by. They come and they go, but you as the observer remain separate. Another great exercise to implement. Imagine that internal voice in your head that goes around judging everything all day as good or bad as your twin, whose sitting next to you. Now every thought you think, imagine it is audibly and visually coming from your twin. You’re going to find out very quickly that you really do not like your new friend. He or she is always expecting the worst case scenario, always second guessing things.
Reading trains your attention.
It requires you to be in this moment from word to word as you scan the page. You’ll learn new skills and and see things from a new perspective and discover completely new ideas. It will signal your subconscious mind as a new experience even though you are visually imagining what is being read, your subconscious can’t tell the difference. Make sure to set aside time regularly to read. You know what all the very successful people in the world have in common? They all read, a lot.
Identify which habits are not serving you.
Once identified it’s time to reduce/eliminate and implement new ones that do serve us. We covered two new habits to add above with reading and mindfuless meditation. Now lets look at some common habits that are lowering your vibration. Doom scrolling. We’ve all been sucked in to the short form video content algorithms for hours on end. The problem is this is a quick dopamine hit and raises our dopamine baseline, making other efforts in our lives feel unrewarding. Many times you are left without any motivation at all. Other unhealthy habits that lower your vibration are binge watching tv and binge gaming. Identify these obstacles to elevate your state and free your consciousness.
Creative Expression
Here are a list of powerful creative outlets that will raise your vibration and elevate your mood and cultivate a state of wellbeing: Writing, creating music, listening to music, dancing, walking, singing, painting, drawing, DIY builds and any other outlet that engages the right half of your brain.
Conclusion: When we take specific actions and build certain habits while breaking others, we allow our state to elevate. See our thoughts as external things, not who we are. Operate from the present moment, not regret of the past or anxiety of future. You can find more on this topic on my Linkedin post.
