After 1 year of Bretty PoV on Youtube and growing at a snails pace, as a hobby, I want to share with you the Youtube tips it took me a YEAR to learn.
Do not underestimate the power of SEO. Research your keywords and factor in search volume and relevance with tools like TubeBuddy or Google Trends. Be sure to filter for Youtube searches. Also be sure to use these keywords in your video title and description.
Prioritize. In my humble opinion here is what i recommend: Video Idea > Thumbnail/Title > Storytelling > Video Audio Quality > Editing > Description/Hashtags > Tags
Youtube Analytics – get youtube studio, they have a mobile app as well. Learn what CTR is and how to read a retention chart. Also, check your audience demographics and cater content to them.
Consistency – The algorithm LOVES consistency and will give your videos more impressions if you are consistent, plus you’ll just get better faster.
Gear – New smart phones shot in cinematic mode 4k resolution with 30 fps is great for talking head style videos. Throw in a cheap LAV mic and you’ve got the foundation of some solid video and audio. If you already have this covered you can look in to lighting and even some mirrorless cameras or an XLR microphone which will require an audio interface.
Software – Tubebuddy for SEO, Canva for Thumbnails, I started editing on Capcut but now use Davinci Resolve. For music I’ve always used Epidemic Sound and am VERY happy with it’s selection and search tools to find music and sound effects.
BONUS: Final tip here and I see this mistake A LOT and it will literally boost your video to the top of Google and Youtube search results… when selecting tags for your video… DO NOT… FORGET to add branded keywords as tags, so your channel name should be added as a tag. I add my name as a tag, the video title, copy, paste – TAG. Primary keyword for the video, add it as a tag.
Thats all I have for you! Thanks for following along and I hope you got a ton of value from this, if you did, feel free to share the article with a fellow creator or drop it in a group chat or discord!
